Case:

A 35-year-old female presented to our OPD with her son. During routine observation, we noted the absence of one central incisor (tooth #11) in her dentition. Upon inquiry, she revealed a history of traumatic avulsion of this tooth during childhood.

Clinical History:

The patient reported a fall during childhood, resulting in the avulsion of her maxillary right central incisor. At that time, the family consulted a general physician, who advised against reimplantation. Due to limited financial resources, the family did not seek further specialized dental care.

Clinical Findings:

The absence of the central incisor has significantly impacted the patient's oral health and esthetics. The remaining central incisor (tooth #21) has migrated mesially, leading to malocclusion. This tooth loss has also resulted in compromised smile esthetics and diminished self-confidence.

Treatment Considerations:

To restore the patient's smile and oral function, several treatment options can be considered:
Fixed Prosthesis: This option involves fabricating a bridge to replace the missing tooth.
Orthodontics and Implant: This approach would involve orthodontic treatment to create space for implant placement. Given the patient's age and presumably good bone quality, this option offers a long-term and esthetic solution

Discussion:

This case highlights the critical importance of early and accurate diagnosis and management of dental trauma. Had the initial consultation been with a dentist, timely reimplantation of the avulsed tooth, followed by root canal treatment, would have likely preserved the natural tooth structure and prevented the subsequent complications.
Conclusion:
This patient's experience underscores the psychological impact of dental trauma and the importance of comprehensive dental care, even in cases of seemingly minor injuries. With proper support and guidance, we can help this patient regain her smile and confidence.

Can you guess the other diagnosis in this case?
